“The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly to us, and took us to be spies of the land.


Joseph saw his brothers, and knew them, but he treated them like strangers and spoke roughly to them. “Where do you come from?” he said. They said, “From the land of Canaan, to buy food.”


So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king said, “Come to me again the third day.”


King Rehoboam spoke to them according to the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”


But he forsook the counsel which the old men gave him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him and stood before him.


Then Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me; take heed to yourself; never see my face again; for in the day you see my face you shall die.”


A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.


The poor use entreaties, but the rich answer roughly.


Cease, my son, to hear instruction only to stray from the words of knowledge.
