And the king swore, saying, “As the Lord lives, who has redeemed my soul out of every adversity,


Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.”


And she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a cruse; and now, I am gathering a couple of sticks, that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”


So he went and did according to the word of the Lord; he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith that is east of the Jordan.


“Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow there to feed you.”

Now therefore as the Lord lives, who has established me, and placed me on the throne of David my father, and who has made me a house, as he promised, Adonijah shall be put to death this day.”


But Micaiah said, “As the Lord lives, what the Lord says to me, that I will speak.”


In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes which they have devised.


In the covert of thy presence thou hidest them from the plots of men; thou holdest them safe under thy shelter from the strife of tongues.


He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, who abides in the shadow of the Almighty,

So they took up stones to throw at him; but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple.


See therefore, and take note of all the lurking places where he hides, and come back to me with sure information. Then I will go with you; and if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.”


Then Achish called David and said to him, “As the Lord lives, you have been honest, and to me it seems right that you should march out and in with me in the campaign; for I have found nothing wrong in you from the day of your coming to me to this day. Nevertheless the lords do not approve of you.
