So Saul arose and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, with three thousand chosen men of Israel, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.


When they are given over to those who shall condemn them, then they shall learn that the word of the Lord is true.


The high mountains are for the wild goats; the rocks are a refuge for the badgers.


Those who seek my life lay their snares, those who seek my hurt speak of ruin, and meditate treachery all the day long.


The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.


Saul chose three thousand men of Israel; two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and the hill country of Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibe-ah of Benjamin; the rest of the people he sent home, every man to his tent.

“Do you know when the mountain goats bring forth? Do you observe the calving of the hinds?


So Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines; therefore that place was called the Rock of Escape.
