So he sent horses and chariots there and a great army; they came by night and surrounded the city.


When the Arameans came down against him, Elisha prayed to the Lord and said, “Strike this people, please, with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness as Elisha had asked.


May your eyes be open day and night toward this house, the place where you promised to set your name, and may you heed the prayer that your servant prays toward this place.


Now, O my God, let your eyes be open and your ears attentive to prayer from this place.


Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.


let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer of your servant that I now pray before you day and night for your servants, the Israelites, confessing the sins of the Israelites, which we have sinned against you. Both I and my family have sinned.


On that day the Lord will punish the host of heaven in heaven and on earth the kings of the earth.


Incline your ear, O Lord, and hear; open your eyes, O Lord, and see; hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to mock the living God.


I will set my eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them back to this land. I will build them up and not tear them down; I will plant them and not pluck them up.


I will turn you around and put hooks into your jaws, and I will lead you out with all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed in full armor, a great company, all of them with shield and buckler, wielding swords.


And you shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with warriors and all kinds of soldiers, says the Lord God.


Incline your ear, O my God, and hear. Open your eyes and look at our desolation and the city that bears your name. We do not present our supplication before you on the ground of our righteousness but on the ground of your great mercies.


Together they shall be like warriors in battle, trampling the foe in the mud of the streets; they shall fight, for the Lord is with them, and they shall put to shame the riders on horses.


On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning for Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.


On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it shall grievously hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth shall come together against it.


Then the clans of Judah shall say to themselves, “The inhabitants of Jerusalem have strength through the Lord of hosts, their God.”


On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a blazing pot on a pile of wood, like a flaming torch among sheaves, and they shall devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem shall again be inhabited in its place, in Jerusalem.


And a plague like this plague shall fall on the horses, the mules, the camels, the donkeys, and whatever animals may be in those camps.


Then I will encamp at my house as a guard, so that no one shall march to and fro; no oppressor shall again overrun them, for now I have seen with my own eyes.


While God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, now he commands all people everywhere to repent,


The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness, and confusion of mind;
