yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through the faith of Jesus Christ. And we have come to believe in Christ Jesus, so that we might be justified by the faith of Christ and not by doing the works of the law, because no one will be justified by the works of the law.


But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace would no longer be grace.


And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise.


For this reason the promise depends on faith, in order that it may rest on grace, so that it may be guaranteed to all his descendants, not only to the adherents of the law but also to those who share the faith of Abraham (who is the father of all of us,


For we hold that a person is justified by faith apart from works prescribed by the law.


Husbands, in the same way, show consideration for your wives in your life together, paying honor to the woman—though the weaker vessel, they are joint heirs of the gracious gift of life—so that nothing may hinder your prayers.


By faith he stayed for a time in the land he had been promised, as in a foreign land, living in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.


By faith Noah, warned by God about events as yet unseen, respected the warning and built an ark to save his household; by this he condemned the world and became an heir to the righteousness that is in accordance with faith.

Now to one who works, wages are not reckoned as a gift but as something due.

As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”


Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and through grace gave us eternal comfort and good hope,


Are not all angels spirits in the divine service, sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
