for though they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their senseless hearts were darkened.


For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.


But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.


I want you to be free from anxieties. The unmarried man is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to please the Lord,


I have been paid in full and have more than enough; I am fully satisfied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.


so that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God.


Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is your acceptable duty in the Lord.


Finally, brothers and sisters, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus that, as you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God (as, in fact, you are doing), you should do so more and more.


Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.


make you complete in everything good so that you may do his will, as he works among us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever. Amen.


and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him.
