Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.


The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted.


The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you live: when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague shall destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.


“You yourself are to speak to the Israelites, ‘You shall surely keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, given in order that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you.


It is a sign forever between me and the Israelites that in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.’ ”


Moreover, I gave them my Sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, so that they might know that I the Lord sanctify them.


and hallow my Sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.”

I tell you, many will come from east and west and will take their places at the banquet with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,


Then Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.


Whoever has accepted his testimony has certified this, that God is true.


Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever disobeys the Son will not see life but must endure God’s wrath.


Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.


This is indeed the will of my Father, that all who see the Son and believe in him may have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day.”


Very truly, I tell you, whoever believes has eternal life.


They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham and have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean by saying, ‘You will be made free’?”


The scripture says, “No one who believes in him will be put to shame.”


For Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.


But the righteousness that comes from faith says, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down)


the righteousness of God through the faith of Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction,


it was to demonstrate at the present time his own righteousness, so that he is righteous and he justifies the one who has the faith of Jesus.


since God is one, and he will justify the circumcised on the ground of faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.


How then was it reckoned to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after but before he was circumcised.


What then are we to say? Gentiles, who did not strive for righteousness, have attained it, that is, righteousness through faith,


as it is written, “See, I am laying in Zion a stone that will make people stumble, a rock that will make them fall, and whoever trusts in him will not be put to shame.”


It is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all those descended from Israel are Israelites,


who has put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a down payment.


But the scripture has imprisoned all things under the power of sin, so that what was promised through the faith of Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.


And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise.


so, you see, those who believe are the descendants of Abraham.


For through the Spirit, by faith, we eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness.


As for those who will follow this rule—peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.


In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit;


And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption.


“Moreover, the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, in order that you may live.


and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law but one that comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God based on faith.


By faith Noah, warned by God about events as yet unseen, respected the warning and built an ark to save his household; by this he condemned the world and became an heir to the righteousness that is in accordance with faith.

They were told not to damage the grass of the earth or any green growth or any tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
