the Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.


You will show faithfulness to Jacob and steadfast love to Abraham, as you have sworn to our ancestors from the days of old.


“Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that produces its fruits.


He has come to the aid of his child Israel, in remembrance of his mercy,


But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brothers.


When they opposed and reviled him, in protest he shook the dust from his clothes and said to them, “Your blood be on your own heads! I am innocent. From now on I will go to the gentiles.”


So I ask, have they stumbled so as to fall? By no means! But through their stumbling salvation has come to the gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous.


Just as you were once disobedient to God but have now received mercy because of their disobedience,


What then? Israel has not achieved what it was pursuing. The elect have achieved it, but the rest were hardened,


For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life.


to them belong the patriarchs, and from them, according to the flesh, comes the Christ, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.


yet the Lord set his heart in love on your ancestors alone and chose you, their descendants after them, out of all the peoples, as it is today.


Because the Lord your God is a merciful God, he will neither abandon you nor destroy you; he will not forget the covenant with your ancestors that he swore to them.


But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, so that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your ancestors, as he is doing today.


It is not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart that you are going in to occupy their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the Lord your God is dispossessing them before you, in order to fulfill the promise that the Lord made on oath to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
