I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me. When he commits iniquity, I will punish him with a rod such as mortals use, with blows inflicted by human beings.


“And you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with single mind and willing heart, for the Lord searches every mind and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will abandon you forever.


Hot indignation seizes me because of the wicked, those who forsake your law.


If your sons keep my covenant and my decrees that I shall teach them, their sons also, forevermore, shall sit on your throne.”


Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones.


Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law struggle against them.


for I give you good precepts: do not forsake my teaching.


For thus says the Lord: David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel,


withholds his hand from iniquity, takes no advance or accrued interest, observes my ordinances, and follows my statutes, he shall not die for his father’s iniquity; he shall surely live.


follows my statutes, and is careful to observe my ordinances, acting faithfully—such a one is righteous; he shall surely live, says the Lord God.


I the Lord am your God; follow my statutes, be careful to observe my ordinances,


Both of them were righteous before God, living blamelessly according to all the commandments and regulations of the Lord.


so that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land that the Lord swore to your ancestors to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.
