Live in harmony with one another; do not be arrogant, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are.


Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot attain it.


‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me that I did not know.


And you, do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them, for I am going to bring disaster upon all flesh, says the Lord, but I will give you your life as a prize of war in every place to which you may go.”


One who secretly slanders a neighbor I will destroy. A haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not tolerate.


If it had not been the Lord who was on our side —let Israel now say—


I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”


Now the man Moses was very humble, more so than anyone else on the face of the earth.


Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.


How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!


So Saul’s servants reported these words to David in private. And David said, “Does it seem to you a little thing to become the king’s son-in-law, seeing that I am a poor man and of no repute?”

O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

but David went back and forth from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.


You are witnesses, and God also, how pure, upright, and blameless our conduct was toward you believers.


I will make myself yet more contemptible than this, and I will be humbled in my own eyes, but by the maids of whom you have spoken, by them I shall be held in honor.”


Haughty eyes and a proud heart— the lamp of the wicked—are sin.
