And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem, for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.


When Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him, his advisers and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom your downfall has begun, is of the Jewish people, you will not prevail against him but will surely fall before him.”


So the Jews struck down all their enemies with the sword, slaughtering and destroying them, and did as they pleased to those who hated them.


Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you.


Let those be appalled because of their shame who say to me, “Aha, Aha!”


Let my accusers be put to shame and consumed; let those who seek to hurt me be covered with scorn and disgrace.


When the Lord has finished all his work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, he will punish the arrogant boasting of the king of Assyria and his haughty pride.


Just as when a hungry person dreams of eating and wakes up still hungry or a thirsty person dreams of drinking and wakes up faint, still thirsty, so shall the multitude of all the nations be that fight against Mount Zion.


this is the word that the Lord has spoken concerning him: She despises you; she scorns you— virgin daughter Zion; she tosses her head—behind your back, daughter Jerusalem.


For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake and for the sake of my servant David.”


Now many nations are assembled against you, saying, “Let her be profaned, and let our eyes gaze upon Zion.”


On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it shall grievously hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth shall come together against it.


On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a blazing pot on a pile of wood, like a flaming torch among sheaves, and they shall devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, while Jerusalem shall again be inhabited in its place, in Jerusalem.


Let anyone be accursed who has no love for the Lord. Our Lord, come!
