So Abraham called that place “The Lord will provide,” as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”


He answered, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts, for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away.”


You will rise up and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to favor it; the appointed time has come.


For your servants hold its stones dear and have pity on its dust.


Rise up, O Lord! Do not let mortals prevail; let the nations be judged before you.


For a long time I have held my peace; I have kept still and restrained myself; now I will cry out like a woman in labor; I will gasp and pant.


How can you say, “We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us,” when, in fact, the false pen of the scribes has made it into a lie?


So the law becomes slack, and justice never prevails. The wicked surround the righteous; therefore judgment comes forth perverted.


But you have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to stumble by your instruction; you have corrupted the covenant of Levi, says the Lord of hosts,


So, for the sake of your tradition, you nullify the word of God.


Do we then overthrow the law through this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.


For if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void.


Indeed, the Lord will vindicate his people, have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, neither bond nor free remaining.
