If any think they are religious and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless.


All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.


Therefore rid yourselves of all sordidness and rank growth of wickedness, and welcome with meekness the implanted word that has the power to save your souls.


The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.


Rid yourselves, therefore, of all malice and all guile, insincerity, envy, and all slander.


A scoundrel and a villain goes around with crooked speech,


and wrangling among those who are depraved in mind and bereft of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain.


But now you must get rid of all such things: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive language from your mouth.


Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed against me, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?


The crooked of mind do not prosper, and the perverse of tongue fall into calamity.


If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, and do not let wickedness reside in your tents.


Let your eyes look directly forward and your gaze be straight before you.


The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.


Better the poor walking in integrity than one perverse of speech who is a fool.


Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
