Now in all Israel there was no one to be praised so much for his beauty as Absalom; from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.


Praise the Lord! Happy are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delight in his commandments.


but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.


The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.


A gracious woman gets honor, but she who hates virtue is covered with shame. The timid become destitute, but the aggressive gain riches.


Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman without good sense.


The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.

The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.


The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments, for that is the whole duty of everyone.


It is good that you should take hold of the one without letting go of the other, for the one who fears God shall succeed with both.


But you trusted in your beauty and prostituted yourself because of your fame and lavished your prostitutions on any passer-by.


Both of them were righteous before God, living blamelessly according to all the commandments and regulations of the Lord.


Rather, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not the written code. Such a person receives praise not from humans but from God.


Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then each one will receive commendation from God.


For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the field; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. It is the same way with the rich; in the midst of a busy life, they will wither away.


For “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls,


so that the genuineness of your faith—being more precious than gold that, though perishable, is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
