One of them went out into the field to gather herbs; he found a wild vine and gathered from it a lapful of wild gourds and came and cut them up into the pot of stew, not knowing what they were.


“If I have walked with falsehood, and my foot has hurried to deceit—


for their feet run to evil, and they hurry to shed blood.


The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of sense.


Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but one who has a hasty temper exalts folly.


The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to want.


do not hastily bring into court, for what will you do in the end, when your neighbor puts you to shame?


The faithful will abound with blessings, but one who is in a hurry to be rich will not go unpunished.


The miser is in a hurry to get rich and does not know that loss is sure to come.


Do you see someone who is hasty in speech? There is more hope for a fool than for anyone like that.


Besides being wise, the Teacher also taught the people knowledge, weighing and studying and arranging many proverbs.


Do not be quick to anger, for anger lodges in the bosom of fools.


When its boughs are dry, they are broken; women come and make a fire of them. For this is a people without understanding; therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them; he who formed them will show them no favor.


therefore thus says the Lord God, “See, I am laying in Zion a foundation stone, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation: ‘One who trusts will not panic.’


My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge! Because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me; and since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.


And they will do this because they have not known the Father or me.


For I can testify that they have a zeal for God, but it is not based on knowledge.


And this is my prayer, that your love may overflow more and more with knowledge and full insight
