There they are, bellowing with their mouths, with sharp words on their lips, for “Who,” they think, “will hear us?”


When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but the prudent are restrained in speech.


The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.


The clever do all things intelligently, but the fool displays folly.


The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly.


The mind of the wise makes their speech judicious and adds persuasiveness to their lips.


A fool gives full vent to anger, but the wise quietly holds it back.


Do you see someone who is hasty in speech? There is more hope for a fool than for anyone like that.


Never be rash with your mouth nor let your heart be quick to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you upon earth; therefore let your words be few.


Do not let your mouth lead you into sin, and do not say before the messenger that it was a mistake; why should God be angry at your words and destroy the work of your hands?


You brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.


but in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you,


For they speak bombastic nonsense, and with debased desires of the flesh they entice people who have just escaped from those who live in error.
