If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to fear among you, for he is doing the work of the Lord just as I am;


For this reason I sent you Timothy, who is my beloved and trustworthy child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ Jesus, as I teach them everywhere in every church.


I wrote for this reason: to test you and to know whether you are obedient in everything.


And with them we are sending our brother whom we have often tested and found eager in many matters but who is now more eager than ever because of his great confidence in you.


Therefore openly before the churches, show them the proof of your love and of our reason for boasting about you to them.


I do not say this as a command, but I am, by mentioning the eagerness of others, testing the genuineness of your love.


I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually resulted in the progress of the gospel,


These proclaim Christ out of love, knowing that I have been put here for the defense of the gospel;


for your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.


It is right for me to think this way about all of you, because I hold you in my heart, for all of you are my partners in God’s grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.


I have no one so like myself who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare.


This charge I commit to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies made earlier about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight,


To Timothy, my true child in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.


If you put these instructions before the brothers and sisters, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and of the sound teaching that you have followed.


To Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.


Now you have observed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness,


To Titus, my true child in the faith we share: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.
