They profess to know God, but they deny him by their actions; they are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.


But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain God’s gift with money!


Then Daniel answered in the presence of the king, “Let your gifts be for yourself, or give your rewards to someone else! Nevertheless I will read the writing to the king and let him know the interpretation.


You also stay here overnight, so that I may learn what more the Lord may say to me.”


And Balaam said to Balak, “Did I not speak to your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,


But the man of God said to the king, “If you give me half your kingdom, I will not go in with you, nor will I eat food or drink water in this place.


He said to them, “Stay here tonight, and I will bring back word to you, just as the Lord speaks to me”; so the officials of Moab stayed with Balaam.


but I would not listen to Balaam; therefore he blessed you, so I rescued you out of his hand.


or with princes who have gold, who fill their houses with silver.
