Those who despise a word bring destruction on themselves, but those who respect a command will be rewarded.


Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.


The person who sins shall die. A child shall not suffer for the iniquity of a parent nor a parent suffer for the iniquity of a child; the righteousness of the righteous shall be their own, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be their own.


Therefore whoever rejects this rejects not human authority but God, who also gives his Holy Spirit to you.


It is time for the Lord to act, for your law has been broken.


“When any of you sin in that you have heard a public adjuration to testify and, although able to testify as one who has seen or learned of the matter, do not speak up, you are subject to punishment.

Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel: Because you reject this word and put your trust in oppression and deceit and rely on them,


For my iniquities have gone over my head; they weigh like a burden too heavy for me.


For the land shall be deserted by them and enjoy its Sabbath years by lying desolate without them, while they shall make amends for their iniquity, because they dared to spurn my ordinances, and they abhorred my statutes.


if you spurn my statutes and abhor my ordinances, so that you will not observe all my commandments and you break my covenant,


for they had rebelled against the words of God and spurned the counsel of the Most High.


Whoever blends any like it or whoever puts any of it on an unqualified person shall be cut off from the people.”


But anyone who is clean and is not on a journey and yet refrains from keeping the Passover shall be cut off from the people for not presenting the Lord’s offering at its appointed time; such a one shall bear the consequences for the sin.


As for anyone who presumes to disobey the priest appointed to minister there to the Lord your God or the judge, that person shall die. So you shall purge the evil from Israel.


Therefore I swear to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be expiated by sacrifice or offering forever.”
