So I contended with the officials and said, “Why is the house of God forsaken?” And I gathered them together and set them in their stations.


Tyrians also, who lived in the city, brought in fish and all kinds of merchandise and sold them on the Sabbath to the people of Judah in Jerusalem.


And I contended with them and cursed them and beat some of the men and pulled out their hair, and I made them take an oath in the name of God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves.


After thinking it over, I contended with the nobles and the officials; I said to them, “You are all taking interest from your own people.” And I called a great assembly to deal with them


Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law struggle against them.


Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the teaching of our God, you people of Gomorrah!


Say to the king and the queen mother: “Take a lowly seat, for your beautiful crown has come down from your head.”


Let me go to the rich and speak to them; surely they know the way of the Lord, the law of their God.” But they all alike had broken the yoke; they had burst the bonds.


But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; they did not observe my statutes but rejected my ordinances, by whose observance everyone shall live, and my Sabbaths they greatly profaned. Then I thought I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to make an end of them.


“You shall not hate in your heart anyone of your kin; you shall reprove your neighbor, or you will incur guilt yourself.


And I said: Listen, you heads of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel! Should you not know justice?—


Hear this, you rulers of the house of Jacob and chiefs of the house of Israel, who abhor justice and pervert all equity,
