What will you do on the day of punishment, in the calamity that will come from far away? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth,


For the Lord God of hosts has a day of tumult and trampling and confusion in the valley of vision, a battering down of walls and a cry for help to the mountains.


Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress; instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle, and it shall be to the Lord for a memorial, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.


They are worthless, a work of delusion; at the time of their punishment they shall perish.


and not even a remnant shall be left of them. For I will bring disaster upon the people of Anathoth, the year of their punishment.


Even her mercenaries in her midst are like fatted calves; they, too, have turned and fled together; they did not stand, for the day of their calamity has come upon them, the time of their punishment.

Like thorns they are entangled; like drunkards they are drunk; they are consumed like dry straw.


“There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars and on the earth distress among nations confused by the roaring of the sea and the waves.


But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and on the verge of being cursed; its end is to be burned over.
