Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? You have now heard his blasphemy.


Then the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, “Who is this who is speaking blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”


One who blasphemes the name of the Lord shall be put to death; the whole congregation shall stone the blasphemer. Aliens as well as the native-born, when they blaspheme the Name, shall be put to death.


You have heard his blasphemy! What is your decision?” All of them condemned him as deserving death.


For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: sexual immorality, theft, murder,


for he taught them as one having authority and not as their scribes.


But whoever acts high-handedly, whether native-born or an alien, affronts the Lord and shall be cut off from among the people.


“Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter,


but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness but is guilty of an eternal sin”—
