Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nations, the slave of rulers, “Kings shall see and stand up; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves, because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”


He was despised and rejected by others; a man of suffering and acquainted with infirmity, and as one from whom others hide their faces he was despised, and we held him of no account.


O Lord, you have enticed me, and I was enticed; you have overpowered me, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day long; everyone mocks me.


then they will hand him over to the gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and on the third day he will be raised.”


At once he came up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” and kissed him.


Over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”


And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and after twisting some thorns into a crown they put it on him.


And they began saluting him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
