When Jesus became aware of this, he departed. Many followed him, and he cured all of them,


Some Pharisees came to him, and to test him they asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause?”


Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”


Show me the coin used for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius.


Then he sent another, and that one they killed. And so it was with many others; some they beat, and others they killed.


At once Jesus perceived in his spirit that they were discussing these questions among themselves, and he said to them, “Why do you raise such questions in your hearts?


An expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he said, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”


But he perceived their craftiness and said to them,

But Jesus, aware of their inner thoughts, took a little child and put it by his side


and needed no one to testify about anyone, for he himself knew what was in everyone.


They said this to test him, so that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.


Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to put the Spirit of the Lord to the test? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.”


and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you as your works deserve.
