As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax-collection station, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him.

James son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder),


and Judas Iscariot, who handed him over.


Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.


One of the two who heard John speak and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother.


Thomas, who was called the Twin, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with him.”

Gathered there together were Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.


When they had entered the city, they went to the room upstairs where they were staying: Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.


After they finished speaking, James replied, “My brothers, listen to me.


The next day Paul went with us to visit James, and all the elders were present.


Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.


Do we not have the right to be accompanied by a believing wife, as do the other apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas?


but I did not see any other apostle except James the Lord’s brother.
