When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.


From there he set out and went away to the region of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know he was there. Yet he could not escape notice,


Just then some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a stretcher. They were trying to bring him in and lay him before Jesus,


But he went out and began to proclaim it freely and to spread the word, so that Jesus could no longer go into a town openly but stayed out in the country, and people came to him from every quarter.


And after getting into a boat he crossed the sea and came to his own town.


And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native language of each.


He left Nazareth and made his home in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali,


So many gathered around that there was no longer room for them, not even in front of the door, and he was speaking the word to them.


Then he went home, and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat.


When he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable.


When he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”


He said to them, “Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, ‘Doctor, cure yourself!’ And you will say, ‘Do here also in your hometown the things that we have heard you did at Capernaum.’ ”
