15 Did God not make them one, flesh with spirit in it? And what does the one desire? Godly offspring. So look to yourselves, and do not let anyone be faithless to the wife of his youth.

You ask, “Why does he not?” Because the Lord was a witness between you and the wife of your youth, to whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.


For out of the heart come evil intentions, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.

But because of cases of sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.


and I will be your father, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”


And, fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.


for that would turn away your children from following me, to serve other gods. Then the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly.


someone who is blameless, married only once, whose children are believers, not accused of debauchery and not rebellious.


and, through the children that the Lord will give you by this young woman, may your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah.”


Then Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife and say, “May the Lord repay you with children by this woman for the loan that she made to the Lord,” and then they would return to their home.
