So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought to him all the sick, those who were afflicted with various diseases and pains, people possessed by demons or having epilepsy or afflicted with paralysis, and he cured them.


Suddenly they shouted, “What have you to do with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”


Now after he rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons.


Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” He replied, “My name is Legion, for we are many.”


as well as some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out,


for Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many times it had seized him; he was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the wilds.)
