Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, “Even if the Lord were to make windows in the sky, could such a thing happen?” But he said, “You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat from it.”


Amaziah said to the man of God, “But what shall we do about the hundred talents that I have given to the army of Israel?” The man of God answered, “The Lord is able to give you much more than this.”


Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth, for the Lord has spoken: I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me.


The land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and live on it securely.


but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of complete rest for the land, a Sabbath for the Lord: you shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard.


You may eat what the land yields during its Sabbath—you, your male and female slaves, your hired and your bound laborers who live with you,


Where am I to get meat to give to all this people? For they come weeping to me, saying, ‘Give us meat to eat!’


The camp followers with them had a strong craving, and the Israelites also wept again and said, “If only we had meat to eat!


And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a dead calm.


And do not keep seeking what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying.


Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
