Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah sulfur and fire from the Lord out of heaven,


and he overthrew those cities and all the plain and all the inhabitants of the cities and what grew on the ground.


And it shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the male slave, so with his master; as with the female slave, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor.


Let that man be like the cities that the Lord overthrew without pity; let him hear a cry in the morning and an alarm at noon,


But in the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a more shocking thing: they commit adultery and walk in lies; they strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that no one turns from wickedness; all of them have become like Sodom to me and its inhabitants like Gomorrah.


Happier were those pierced by the sword than those pierced by hunger, whose life drains away, deprived of the produce of the field.


By his cunning he shall make deceit prosper under his hand, and in his own mind he shall be great. Without warning he shall destroy many and shall even rise up against the Prince of princes. But he shall be broken, and not by human hands.


He has confirmed his words that he spoke against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us a calamity so great that what has been done against Jerusalem has never before been done under the whole heaven.


For at that time there will be great suffering, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.


I tell you, on that day it will be more tolerable for Sodom than for that town.


That slave who knew what his master wanted but did not prepare himself or do what was wanted will receive a severe beating.
