Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab and for Molech the abomination of the Ammonites on the mountain east of Jerusalem.


you with your own hand drove out the nations, but them you planted; you afflicted the peoples, but them you set free;


He drove out nations before them; he apportioned them for a possession and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.


Then Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel, their confidence.


Woe to you, O Moab! The people of Chemosh have perished, for your sons have been taken captive and your daughters into captivity.


Surely, because you trusted in your strongholds and your treasures, you also shall be taken; Chemosh shall go out into exile, with his priests and his attendants.


For all the peoples walk, each in the name of its god, but we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.


Woe to you, O Moab! You are undone, O people of Chemosh! He has made his sons fugitives and his daughters captives to an Amorite king, Sihon.


For whoever does these things is abhorrent to the Lord; it is because of such abhorrent practices that the Lord your God is driving them out before you.


Thus the Lord gave to Israel all the land that he swore to their ancestors that he would give them, and having taken possession of it, they settled there.

The Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord, serving the Baals and the Astartes, the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites, and the gods of the Philistines. Thus they abandoned the Lord and did not worship him.


So now the Lord, the God of Israel, has conquered the Amorites for the benefit of his people Israel. Do you intend to take their place?


Now the angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bochim and said, “I brought you up from Egypt and brought you into the land that I had promised to your ancestors. I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you.


So she said, “Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law.”
