So it was that, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, God remembered Abraham and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot had settled.


Now then, return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all that are yours.”


There they cry out, but he does not answer, because of the pride of evildoers.


Surely God does not hear an empty cry, nor does the Almighty regard it.


Now therefore take seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering, and my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept his prayer not to deal with you according to your folly, for you have not spoken of me what is right, as my servant Job has done.”


Therefore he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them.


Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good spirit lead me on a level path.


He fulfills the desire of all who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.


They cried for help, but there was no one to save them; they cried to the Lord, but he did not answer them.


I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.”


Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel also was among those who called on his name. They cried to the Lord, and he answered them.


The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.


If you close your ear to the cry of the poor, you will cry out and not be heard.


When one will not listen to the law, even one’s prayers are an abomination.


When you stretch out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.


Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry for help, and he will say, “Here I am.” If you remove the yoke from among you, the pointing of the finger, the speaking of evil,


Therefore, thus says the Lord, assuredly I am going to bring disaster upon them that they cannot escape; though they cry out to me, I will not listen to them.


Although they fast, I do not hear their cry, and although they offer burnt offering and grain offering, I do not accept them, but by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence I consume them.


Then the Lord said to me: Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my heart would not turn toward this people. Send them out of my sight, and let them go!


Therefore I will act in wrath; my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity, and though they cry in my hearing with a loud voice, I will not listen to them.”


Then they will cry to the Lord, but he will not answer them; he will hide his face from them at that time because they have acted wickedly.


Just as, when I called, they would not hear, so, when they called, I would not hear, says the Lord of hosts,


But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask of him.”


You did not choose me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.


Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to complete his work.


Anyone who resolves to do the will of God will know whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking on my own.


The man answered, “Here is an astonishing thing! You do not know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.


Never since the world began has it been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind.


When you returned and wept before the Lord, the Lord would neither heed your voice nor pay you any attention.


Then I said, ‘See, I have come to do your will, O God’ (in the scroll of the book it is written of me).”
