So Lot went out and said to his sons-in-law, who were to marry his daughters, “Up, get out of this place, for the Lord is about to destroy the city.” But he seemed to his sons-in-law to be jesting.


O Lord, your hand is lifted up, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people and be ashamed. Let the fire for your adversaries consume them.


Who has believed what we have heard? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?


He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ ”


This is the testimony given by John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”


How can you believe when you accept glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the one who alone is God?


and asked them, “Is this your son, who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”


His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that anyone who confessed Jesus to be the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue.


Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs.
