At that hour Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest me as though I were a rebel? Day after day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not arrest me.


But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since they are blood money.”


He sat down opposite the treasury and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums.


Then he called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury.


When the scribes and chief priests realized that he had told this parable against them, they wanted to lay hands on him at that very hour, but they feared the people.


He looked up and saw rich people putting their gifts into the treasury;


Then they tried to arrest him again, but he escaped from their hands.


And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what concern is that to me and to you? My hour has not yet come.”


About the middle of the festival Jesus went up into the temple and began to teach.


Then they tried to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him because his hour had not yet come.


Some of them wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.


Go to the festival yourselves. I am not going to this festival, for my time has not yet fully come.”


Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and he sat down and began to teach them.


So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
