This is the testimony given by John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?”


Again the Jews were divided because of these words.


Nicodemus said to him, “How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother’s womb and be born?”


Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?”


The woman said to him, “Sir, you have no bucket, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water?


Then the Jews began to complain about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”


When many of his disciples heard it, they said, “This teaching is difficult; who can accept it?”


Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not observe the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And they were divided.


When they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some scoffed, but others said, “We will hear you again about this.”


Those who are unspiritual do not receive the gifts of God’s Spirit, for they are foolishness to them, and they are unable to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
