If I sin, you watch me and do not acquit me of my iniquity.


Remember that you fashioned me like clay, and will you turn me to dust again?


Who is there who will contend with me? For then I would be silent and die.


But mortals die and are laid low; humans expire, and where are they?


if I say to the Pit, ‘You are my father,’ and to the worm, ‘My mother’ or ‘My sister,’


They will fly away like a dream and not be found; they will be chased away like a vision of the night.


They go to bed with wealth but will do so no more; they open their eyes, and it is gone.


Now I would be lying down and quiet; I would be asleep; then I would be at rest


You say, ‘I am clean, without transgression; I am pure, and there is no iniquity in me.


The eye that beholds me will see me no more; while your eyes are upon me, I shall be gone.


Then Bildad the Shuhite answered:


I become afraid of all my suffering, for I know you will not hold me innocent.


As for mortals, their days are like grass; they flourish like a flower of the field;


Again I passed by, and they were no more; though I sought them, they could not be found.


and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the breath returns to God who gave it.


Your dead shall live; their corpses shall rise. Those who dwell in the dust will awake and shout for joy! For your dew is a radiant dew, and the earth will give birth to those long dead.


Do not be exceedingly angry, O Lord, and do not remember iniquity forever. Now consider, we are all your people.


Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt.


Take words with you and return to the Lord; say to him, “Take away all guilt; accept that which is good, and we will offer the fruit of our lips.


The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!


He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds.


If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.


You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin.
