“For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.


Whom did he consult for his enlightenment, and who taught him the path of justice? [[Who taught him knowledge and showed him the way of understanding?


Why do you contend against him, saying, ‘He will answer none of my words’?


And when they received it, they grumbled against the landowner,


he who vindicates me is near. Who will contend with me? Let us stand in court together. Who are my adversaries? Let them confront me.


What do you mean by repeating this proverb concerning the land of Israel, “The parents have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge”?


“As God lives, who has taken away my right, and the Almighty, who has made my soul bitter,


If one wished to contend with him, one could not answer him once in a thousand.


Why is light given to one who cannot see the way, whom God has fenced in?


“Why is light given to one in misery and life to the bitter in soul,


Or are we provoking the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?


Whatever has come to be has already been named, and it is known what humans are and that they are not able to dispute with those who are stronger.


You have turned cruel to me; with the might of your hand you persecute me.


Am I the Sea or the Dragon that you set a guard over me?


I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me; let me know why you contend against me.


But I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to argue my case with God.


I would lay my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments.


O that I had one to hear me! (Here is my signature! Let the Almighty answer me!) O that I had the indictment written by my adversary!


Then Job answered the Lord:


I set a snare for you, and you were caught, O Babylon, but you did not know it; you were discovered and seized because you challenged the Lord.


Gird up your loins like a man; I will question you, and you shall declare to me.
