“Can you find out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limit of the Almighty?


It is higher than heaven—what can you do? Deeper than Sheol—what can you know?


“With God are wisdom and strength; he has counsel and understanding.


“Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high heaven.


These are indeed but the outskirts of his ways, and how small a whisper do we hear of him! But the thunder of his power who can understand?”


Surely God is great, and we do not know him; the number of his years is unsearchable.


I will bring my knowledge from far away and ascribe righteousness to my Maker.


“Surely God is mighty and does not despise any; he is mighty in strength of understanding.


Teach us what we shall say to him; we cannot draw up our case because of darkness.


Out of the north comes golden splendor; around God is awesome majesty.


Does God pervert justice? Or does the Almighty pervert the right?


If it is a contest of strength, he is the strong one! If it is a matter of justice, who can summon him?


He is wise in heart and mighty in strength; who has resisted him and succeeded?


Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; his greatness is unsearchable.


For his anger is but for a moment; his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may linger for the night, but joy comes with the morning.


Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God,


and steadfast love belongs to you, O Lord. For you repay to all according to their work.


By your strength you established the mountains; you are girded with might.


Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power, your enemies cringe before you.


The Lord is king; he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed; he is girded with strength. He has established the world; it shall never be moved;


Mighty King, lover of justice, you have established equity; you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.


He has made everything suitable for its time; moreover, he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.


That which is, is far off, and deep, very deep; who can find it out?


Declare and present your case; take counsel together! Who told this long ago? Who declared it of old? Was it not I, the Lord? There is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is no one besides me.


in all their distress. It was no messenger or angel but his presence that saved them; in his love and pity it was he who redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.


Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord God, and not rather that they should turn from their ways and live?


For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, says the Lord God. Turn, then, and live.


Say to them: As I live, says the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from their ways and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?


And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.


All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”


O the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!


It is he alone who has immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see; to him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.


For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share his holiness.
