Understand, O dullest of the people; fools, when will you be wise?


Why should fools have a price in hand to buy wisdom when they have no mind to learn?


When its boughs are dry, they are broken; women come and make a fire of them. For this is a people without understanding; therefore he who made them will not have compassion on them; he who formed them will show them no favor.


Bring forth the people who are blind yet have eyes, who are deaf yet have ears!


They do not know, nor do they comprehend, for their eyes are shut, so that they cannot see, and their minds as well, so that they cannot understand.


They are both stupid and foolish; the instruction given by idols is no better than wood!


“For my people are foolish; they do not know me; they are stupid children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil but do not know how to do good.”


Declare this in the house of Jacob; proclaim it in Judah:


Then I said, “These are only the poor; they have no sense, for they do not know the way of the Lord, the law of their God.


To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear? See, their ears are closed; they cannot listen. The word of the Lord is to them an object of scorn; they take no pleasure in it.


And now, because you have done all these things, says the Lord, and when I spoke to you persistently, you did not listen, and when I called you, you did not answer,


Even the stork in the heavens knows its times, and the turtledove, swallow, and crane observe the time of their coming, but my people do not know the ordinance of the Lord.


Mortal, you are living in the midst of a rebellious house who have eyes to see but do not see, who have ears to hear but do not hear,


Ephraim has become like a dove, silly and without sense; they call upon Egypt, they go to Assyria.


But they refused to listen and turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped their ears in order not to hear.


in order that ‘they may indeed look but not perceive, and may indeed hear but not understand; so that they may not turn again and be forgiven.’ ”


Do you have eyes and fail to see? Do you have ears and fail to hear? And do you not remember?


“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, so that they might not look with their eyes and understand with their heart and turn— and I would heal them.”


‘Go to this people and say, You will indeed listen but never understand, and you will indeed look but never perceive.


Ever since the creation of the world God’s eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been seen and understood through the things God has made. So they are without excuse,


as it is written, “God gave them a sluggish spirit, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, down to this very day.”


the great trials that your eyes saw, the signs, and those great wonders.


But to this day the Lord has not given you a mind to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear.


Do you thus repay the Lord, O foolish and senseless people? Is not he your father who created you, who made you and established you?
