Is the hawk hungry for my heritage? Are the vultures all around her? Go, assemble all the wild animals; bring them to devour her.


They shall die of deadly diseases. They shall not be lamented, nor shall they be buried; they shall become like dung on the surface of the ground. They shall perish by the sword and by famine, and their dead bodies shall become food for the birds of the air and for the wild animals of the earth.


And in this place I will make void the plans of Judah and Jerusalem and will make them fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hand of those who seek their life. I will give their dead bodies for food to the birds of the air and to the wild animals of the earth.


Afterward, says the Lord, I will give King Zedekiah of Judah and his servants and the people in this city—those who survive the pestilence, sword, and famine—into the hands of King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon, into the hands of their enemies, into the hands of those who seek their lives. He shall strike them down with the edge of the sword; he shall not pity them or spare them or have compassion.

So King Zedekiah swore an oath in secret to Jeremiah, “As the Lord lives, who gave us our lives, I will not put you to death or hand you over to these men who seek your life.”


The king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah at Riblah before his eyes; also the king of Babylon slaughtered all the nobles of Judah.


And you, O desolate one, what do you mean that you dress in crimson, that you deck yourself with ornaments of gold, that you enlarge your eyes with paint? In vain you beautify yourself. Your lovers despise you; they seek your life.


Thus says the Lord, I am going to give Pharaoh Hophra, king of Egypt, into the hands of his enemies, those who seek his life, just as I gave King Zedekiah of Judah into the hand of King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon, his enemy who sought his life.”


I will terrify Elam before their enemies and before those who seek their life; I will bring disaster upon them, my fierce anger, says the Lord. I will send the sword after them until I have consumed them,


The corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the air and for the animals of the earth, and no one will frighten them away.


For thus says the Lord God: I will deliver you into the hands of those whom you hate, into the hands of those from whom you turned in disgust,


I will fling you into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your channels; you shall fall in the open field and not be gathered or picked up. To the animals of the earth and to the birds of the air I have given you as food.


I will throw you on the ground; on the open field I will fling you and will cause all the birds of the air to settle on you, and I will let the wild animals of the whole earth gorge themselves on you.


Your corpses shall be food for every bird of the air and animal of the earth, and there shall be no one to frighten them away.


The Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and to the wild animals of the field.”


This very day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head, and I will give the dead bodies of the Philistine army this very day to the birds of the air and to the wild animals of the earth, so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel
