Let those who are wise pay attention to these things and consider the steadfast love of the Lord.


For the sake of my relatives and friends I will say, “Peace be within you.”


For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with victory.


He leads the humble in what is right and teaches the humble his way.


In your majesty ride on victoriously for the cause of truth and to defend the right; let your right hand teach you dread deeds.


Who is like the wise man? And who knows the interpretation of a thing? Being wise makes one’s face shine, but arrogance changes one’s face.


Whoever obeys a command will meet no harm, and the wise mind will know the time and way.


The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord, and the neediest people shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.

Who is wise enough to understand this? To whom has the mouth of the Lord spoken, so that they may declare it? Why is the land ruined and laid waste like a wilderness, so that no one passes through?


Thus says the Lord: Do not let the wise boast in their wisdom; do not let the mighty boast in their might; do not let the wealthy boast in their wealth;


He changes times and seasons, deposes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.


Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land who do his commands; seek righteousness, seek humility; perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the Lord’s wrath.


Now the man Moses was very humble, more so than anyone else on the face of the earth.


Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.


“Tell the daughter of Zion, Look, your king is coming to you, humble and mounted on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

Therefore openly before the churches, show them the proof of your love and of our reason for boasting about you to them.

Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.


Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.


But as for you, man of God, shun all this; pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, gentleness.

But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from works, and I by my works will show you faith.


Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers and sisters, for you know that we who teach will face stricter judgment.


But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy.


Instead, as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct,


Conduct yourselves honorably among the gentiles, so that, though they malign you as evildoers, they may see your honorable deeds and glorify God when he comes to judge.


But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.


rather, let your adornment be the inner self with the lasting beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in God’s sight.
