From the days of our ancestors to this day we have been deep in guilt, and for our iniquities we, our kings, and our priests have been handed over to the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, to plundering, and to utter shame, as is now the case.


to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.


I wait for the Lord; my soul waits, and in his word I hope;


O how abundant is your goodness that you have laid up for those who fear you and accomplished for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of everyone!


For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.


It will be said on that day, “See, this is our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”


Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.


but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.


For our transgressions before you are many, and our sins testify against us. Our transgressions indeed are with us, and we know our iniquities:


Who has heard of such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day? Shall a nation be delivered in one moment? Yet as soon as Zion was in labor she delivered her children.


“And now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and made your name renowned even to this day—we have sinned, we have done wickedly.


we have sinned and done wrong, acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and ordinances.


Open shame, O Lord, falls on us, our kings, our princes, and our ancestors because we have sinned against you.


All of them are hot as an oven, and they devour their rulers. All their kings have fallen; none of them calls upon me.


Though I scattered them among the nations, yet in far countries they shall remember me, and they shall rear their children and return.


Then the king will say to those at his right hand, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world,


Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him.


And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also.


For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God,


so that you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ.


and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.


Without any doubt, the mystery of godliness is great: He was revealed in flesh, vindicated in spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among gentiles, believed in throughout the world, taken up in glory.


But as it is, they desire a better homeland, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; indeed, he has prepared a city for them.


Be patient, therefore, brothers and sisters, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious crop from the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains.


In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
