Then I contended with the nobles of Judah and said to them, “What is this evil thing that you are doing, profaning the Sabbath day?


Happy are those who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times.


Praise the Lord! Happy are those who fear the Lord, who greatly delight in his commandments.


I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word.


Happy is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways.


Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.


Depart from evil, and do good; so you shall abide forever.


But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns.

By loyalty and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the Lord one avoids evil.


Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.


Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.


It is good that you should take hold of the one without letting go of the other, for the one who fears God shall succeed with both.


For thus says the Lord: To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose the things that please me and hold fast my covenant,


And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, all who keep the Sabbath and do not profane it and hold fast my covenant—


If you refrain from trampling the Sabbath, from pursuing your own interests on my holy day; if you call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, serving your own interests or pursuing your own affairs;


Moreover, I gave them my Sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, so that they might know that I the Lord sanctify them.


and hallow my Sabbaths that they may be a sign between me and you, so that you may know that I the Lord am your God.”


You shall keep my Sabbaths and revere my sanctuary: I am the Lord.


But he said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”


Blessed is that slave whom his master will find at work when he arrives.


If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.


Let love be genuine; hate what is evil; hold fast to what is good;


Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they will have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates.
