Often have they attacked me from my youth —let Israel now say—


Then Pharaoh summoned the wise men and the sorcerers, and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same by their secret arts.


But the magicians did the same by their secret arts and brought frogs up on the land of Egypt.


The magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils afflicted the magicians as well as all the Egyptians.


the spirit of the Egyptians within them will be emptied out, and I will confound their plans; they will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead and the ghosts and the familiar spirits;


who frustrates the omens of soothsayers and makes fools of diviners; who turns back the wise and makes their knowledge foolish;


Now if people say to you, “Consult the ghosts and the familiar spirits that chirp and mutter; should not a people consult their gods, the dead on behalf of the living,


But where are your gods that you made for yourself? Let them come, if they can save you, in your time of trouble, for you have as many gods as you have towns, O Judah.


thus says the Lord God: Remove the turban, take off the crown; things shall not remain as they are. Exalt that which is low; humble that which is high.


The thing that the king is asking is too difficult, and no one can reveal it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with mortals.”


So the king commanded that the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans be summoned to tell the king his dreams. When they came in and stood before the king,


Now the wise men, the enchanters, have been brought in before me to read this writing and tell me its interpretation, but they were not able to reveal the interpretation of the matter.


the seers shall be disgraced and the diviners put to shame; they shall all cover their lips, for there is no answer from God.


Because of the countless debaucheries of the prostitute, gracefully alluring, mistress of sorcery, who enslaves nations through her debaucheries and peoples through her sorcery,


When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord, it scraped against the wall and scraped Balaam’s foot against the wall, so he struck it again.


And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their prostitution or their thefts.
