You said, “I shall be mistress forever,” so that you did not lay these things to heart or remember their end.


You have never heard; you have never known; from of old your ear has not been opened. For I knew that you would act very treacherously and that from birth you were called a rebel.


Thus says the Lord: Where is your mother’s bill of divorce with which I dismissed her? Or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? No, because of your sins you were sold, and for your transgressions your mother was dismissed.


They are both stupid and foolish; the instruction given by idols is no better than wood!


Because they considered and turned away from all the transgressions that they had committed, they shall surely live; they shall not die.


Now therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider how you have fared.


“Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider how you have fared.


But when he came to his senses he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired hands have bread enough and to spare, but here I am dying of hunger!


Brothers and sisters, do not be children in your thinking; rather, be infants in evil, but in thinking be adults.


for everything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Sleeper, awake! Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”


If they were wise, they would understand this; they would discern what their end would be.
