All Israel heard of the judgment that the king had rendered, and they stood in awe of the king because they perceived that the wisdom of God was in him to execute justice.


He appointed combat commanders over the people and gathered them together to him in the square at the gate of the city and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,


With him is an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” The people were encouraged by the words of King Hezekiah of Judah.


God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.


The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah


A king who sits on the throne of judgment winnows all evil with his eyes.


For you have been a refuge to the poor, a refuge to the needy in their distress, a shelter from the rainstorm and a shade from the heat. When the blast of the ruthless was like a winter rainstorm,


The Lord is exalted; he dwells on high; he filled Zion with justice and righteousness;


once the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and cleansed the bloodstains of Jerusalem from its midst by a spirit of judgment and by a spirit of burning.


Then the clans of Judah shall say to themselves, “The inhabitants of Jerusalem have strength through the Lord of hosts, their God.”


He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.


“I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just because I seek to do not my own will but the will of him who sent me.


To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,


for it is the Lord your God who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to give you victory.’


I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
