You ascended the high mount, leading captives in your train and receiving gifts from people, even from those who rebel against the Lord God’s abiding there.


At that time gifts will be brought to the Lord of hosts from a people tall and smooth, from a people feared near and far, a nation mighty and conquering, whose land the rivers divide, to Mount Zion, the place of the name of the Lord of hosts.


“Then the Assyrian shall fall by a sword not of mortals, and a sword not of humans shall devour him; he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be put to forced labor.


Thus says the Lord: The wealth of Egypt and the merchandise of Cush and the Sabeans, tall of stature, shall come over to you and be yours; they shall follow you; they shall come over in chains and bow down to you. They will make supplication to you, saying, “God is with you alone, and there is no other; there is no god besides him.”


Thus says the Lord God: I will soon lift up my hand to the nations and raise my signal to the peoples, and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.


Kings shall be your foster fathers and their queens your nursing mothers. With their faces to the ground they shall bow down to you and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the Lord; those who wait for me shall not be put to shame.


But thus says the Lord: Even the captives of the mighty will be taken, and the prey of the tyrant will be rescued, for I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will save your children.


For you will spread out to the right and to the left, and your descendants will possess nations and will settle desolate towns.


The descendants of those who oppressed you shall come bending low to you, and all who despised you shall bow down at your feet; they shall call you the City of the Lord, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.


Lift up your eyes and look around; they all gather together; they come to you; your sons shall come from far away, and your daughters shall be carried in their nurses’ arms.


Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks; foreigners shall till your land and dress your vines,


For thus says the Lord: I will extend prosperity to her like a river and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing stream, and you shall nurse and be carried on her arm and bounced on her knees.


Therefore all who devour you shall be devoured, and all your foes, every one of them, shall go into captivity; those who plunder you shall be plundered, and all who prey on you I will make a prey.


Therefore, the time is surely coming, says the Lord, when I will sound the battle alarm against Rabbah of the Ammonites; it shall become a desolate mound, and its villages shall be burned with fire; then Israel shall dispossess those who dispossessed him, says the Lord.


They will not need to take wood out of the field or cut down any trees in the forests, for they will make their fires of the weapons; they will despoil those who despoiled them and plunder those who plundered them, says the Lord God.


But the holy ones of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever—forever and ever.”


I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the people of Judah, and they will sell them to the Sabeans, to a nation far away, for the Lord has spoken.


As for the male and female slaves whom you may have, it is from the nations around you that you may acquire male and female slaves.


But on Mount Zion there shall be those who escape, and it shall be holy, and the house of Jacob shall take possession of those who dispossessed them.


Be silent, all flesh, before the Lord, for he has roused himself from his holy dwelling.


For I am going to raise my hand against them, and they shall become plunder for their own slaves. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent me.


But if that slave says to himself, ‘My master is delayed in coming,’ and begins to beat the other slaves, men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk,


They were pleased to do this, and indeed they owe it to them, for if the gentiles have come to share in their spiritual blessings, they ought also to be of service to them in material things.


and every proud obstacle raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.


For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become enslaved to one another.


Therefore it is said, “When he ascended on high, he made captivity itself a captive; he gave gifts to his people.”


I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not but are lying—I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and they will learn that I have loved you.
