At that time Menahem sacked Tiphsah, all who were in it and its territory from Tirzah on; because they did not open it to him, he sacked it. He ripped open all the pregnant women in it.


If their children are multiplied, it is for the sword, and their offspring have not enough to eat.


And I will cast you out of my sight, just as I cast out all your kinsfolk, all the offspring of Ephraim.


“Death has come up into our windows; it has entered our palaces to cut off the children from the streets and the young men from the squares.”


You invited my enemies from all around as if for a day of festival; and on the day of the anger of the Lord, no one escaped or survived; those whom I bore and reared, my enemy has destroyed.


and say to Tyre, which sits at the entrance to the sea, merchant of the peoples on many coastlands: Thus says the Lord God: O Tyre, you have said, “I am perfect in beauty.”


therefore the tumult of war shall rise against your people, and all your fortresses shall be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel on the day of battle, when mothers were dashed in pieces with their children.


Samaria shall bear her guilt because she has rebelled against her God; they shall fall by the sword; their little ones shall be dashed in pieces, and their pregnant women ripped open.


I will fall upon them like a bear robbed of her cubs and will tear open the covering of their heart; there I will devour them like a lion, as a wild animal would mangle them.


Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.


Ephraim is stricken, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit. Even though they give birth, I will kill the cherished offspring of their womb.


Therefore thus says the Lord: Your wife shall become a prostitute in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be parceled out by line; you yourself shall die in an unclean land, and Israel shall surely go into exile away from its land.”
