“Therefore, hear me, you who have sense; far be it from God that he should do wickedness and from the Almighty that he should do wrong.


My flesh trembles for fear of you, and I am afraid of your judgments.


He will make your vindication shine like the light and the justice of your cause like the noonday.


but with righteousness he shall judge for the poor and decide with equity for the oppressed of the earth; he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.


Shout out; do not hold back! Lift up your voice like a trumpet! Announce to my people their rebellion, to the house of Jacob their sins.


See, today I appoint you over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”


And I for my part have made you today a fortified city, an iron pillar, and a bronze wall against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.


Then you shall say to them: Thus says the Lord: I am about to fill all the inhabitants of this land—the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—with drunkenness.


Is not my word like fire, says the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?


Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of hosts: Because you have spoken this word, I am now making my words in your mouth a fire and this people wood, and the fire shall devour them.


Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, O mortal.”


Like the hardest stone, harder than flint, I have made your forehead; do not fear them or be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house.”


Mortal, wail over the hordes of Egypt and send them down, with Egypt and the daughters of majestic nations, to the world below, with those who go down to the Pit.


The vision I saw was like the vision that I had seen when he came to destroy the city and like the vision that I had seen by the River Chebar, and I fell upon my face.


The Lord within it is righteous; he does no wrong. Every morning he renders his judgment, each dawn without fail, but the unjust knows no shame.

Samuel said, “As your sword has made women childless, so your mother shall be childless among women.” And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the Lord in Gilgal.
