Why then have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit?


Shall not Lebanon in a very little while become a fruitful field and the fruitful field be regarded as a forest?


And now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard. I will remove its hedge, and it shall be devoured; I will break down its wall, and it shall be trampled down.


On that day every place where there used to be a thousand vines, worth a thousand shekels of silver, will become briers and thorns.


I myself will lift up your skirts over your face, and your shame will be seen.


“Micah of Moresheth, who prophesied during the days of King Hezekiah of Judah, said to all the people of Judah: ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, Zion shall be plowed as a field; Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins and the mountain of the house a wooded height.’


They shall eat up your harvest and your food; they shall eat up your sons and your daughters; they shall eat up your flocks and your herds; they shall eat up your vines and your fig trees; they shall destroy with the sword your fortified cities in which you trust.


I will surely gather them, says the Lord; there are no grapes on the vine nor figs on the fig tree; even the leaves are withered, and what I gave them has passed away from them.


I will fall upon them like a bear robbed of her cubs and will tear open the covering of their heart; there I will devour them like a lion, as a wild animal would mangle them.


For their mother has prostituted herself; she who conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, “I will go after my lovers; they give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.”


For I will be like a lion to Ephraim and like a young lion to the house of Judah. I myself will tear and go away; I will carry off, and no one shall rescue.


Do not rejoice, O Israel! Do not exult as other nations do, for you have prostituted yourself, departing from your God. You have loved a prostitute’s pay on all threshing floors.


Therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed as a field; Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the temple a wooded height.
